Planning Process

Ariadne is currently refining plans for the marina redevelopment and is undertaking environmental studies to support its project application which was submitted to the NSW Department of Planning in November 2007 under Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.

The proposal has built upon the community consultation process undertaken by the NSW Department of Lands to develop the concept plan.

Ariadne is continuing this collaborative approach through ongoing consultation with stakeholders and the broader Batemans Bay community during the environmental assessment process.

Ariadne has met with Council, boat owners and other key stakeholders to discuss the proposed redevelopment.  Ariadne has also provided community information and feedback opportunities which have allowed local residents and other members of the local community to meet with the Ariadne team to learn about the proposal and provide feedback for consideration during the design development.

Ariadne needs local input to improve the design and the environmental assessment. The company is therefore very committed to communicating with the local community throughout the planning process and providing opportunities for input.

Once the detail design is finalised, Ariadne will submit a comprehensive environmental assessment report to the NSW Department of Planning for assessment.  The NSW Department of Planning will then undertake a formal public exhibition process and will call for submissions which they will consider during their assessment of the proposal.  The proposal will also be referred to the Eurobodalla Shire Council and other NSW government agencies for consideration before the Department makes its final decision.

Subject to approval by the Minister for Planning, Ariadne expects to commence construction in early 2009.
