Proposal Overview
Benefits of the Proposal
The proposal is being designed to service a wide range of recreational and commercial users and will deliver a number of significant benefits including:
Enhanced foreshore access and pedestrian linkage between Batemans Bay town centre and Corrigans Beach
The creation of a new waterfront open space public park, recreation and picnic area overlooking the bay between the existing Hanging Rock boat ramp and the proposed new marina
Improved environmental management through best practice refuelling, sewage pump-out and maintenance facilities
Increased capacity of boat storage facilities to meet current and future demand
Increased boat safety and manoeuvrability through improved marina layout and configuration to meet current standards
Improved river navigation and safety by reducing the need for swing moorings, which obstruct the river.
The proposal is considered to be consistent with Eurobodalla Shire Council’s long term planning strategy for the marina precinct and wider Beach Road area. Although the proposal has not yet been approved, improved and increased public access to the foreshore is guaranteed as a condition of the lease agreement with NSW Department of Lands.

The proposed marina will provide Batemans Bay with the highest amenity maritime facility on the South Coast. It will deliver a major boost to the local economy, provide significant opportunities for local businesses, and extend the tourism and economic base of the area by attracting tourists and visitors and investment to the area and providing around 180 permanent jobs.
The proposal entails three distinct sub precincts including the marina and marina village, a community and retail / commercial component and tourist accommodation. Significant improvements to public access and public space are a key element in all of these components.
