Traffic and Parking

Ariadne is working with specialist consultants, Maunsell, to undertake comprehensive traffic studies and to ensure the development complies with all Council and RTA requirements.

Access to the site is proposed from a roundabout at the intersection of Miller Street and Beach Road. This will allow for smooth flowing traffic movements in and out of the site.

A secondary access point designed to maintain safety and traffic flow is proposed at Beach Road into the tourism and retail / commercial precincts.

The proposal includes significant provision for on-site parking.  This means that the potential for parking to spill into adjacent areas will be greatly minimised.  In addition, all car parks and internal lay down areas are being designed to allow large vehicles (like cars with trailers) to unload and turn safely.  Full and convenient access for emergency vehicles, including helicopters, is being retained and enhanced.

The increased provision for boat storage, particularly the dry stack, has the potential to remove many cars towing boats from local roads, notably along the Batemans Bay to Canberra route.

Safe pedestrian and bicycle ways will be constructed separate to the vehicular access ways. Internal sub-roads to the site will be well-marked as low speed shared ways to ensure safe movement within the site.

A dedicated pedestrian and bicycle pathway is proposed to link Corrigans Beach through the site to the centre of town and will allow safe movement and circulation around and through the site at all times of the day.  To maximise public access, an opening bridge is proposed to provide continuous access from Rotary Park to the Hanging Rock boat ramp.

Attractive landscaping and access to facilities such as cafes, a tavern and public amenities will encourage active use of the area, not just by boat owners but by members of the broader community.
