The Batemans Bay

Batemans Bay Marina is in the Eurobodalla Shire on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia with a shire population of over40,000 residents. Geologically, Batemans Bay is situated in the far southern reaches of the Sydney basin, 145nm south of Sydney and 87nm north of Eden.

Batemans Bay is a bustling coastal town with a population of over 17,500. A popular holiday destination, Batemans Bay is 151 km by road from Canberra, the nearest major city and Australia’s capital.

Clyde River

The Clyde River is an iconic waterway within the region. Beginning its journey in the rugged coastal mountain ranges of Southern NSW, the river flows into a broad, navigable estuary at Batemans Bay, after a journey of around 125km through to the opening to the South Pacific Ocean.

Flowing through three national parks and 10state forests in the Clyde Valley, the river system is one of the cleanest and most pristine in eastern Australia.

Average maximum temperatures range from 24ºC in summer to 17ºC in winter, while average minimum temperatures range between 16ºC in summer and 7ºC in winter.

The Eurobodalla region has more than 100km (62m) of spectacular coastline and pristine hinterland, along with 83 beaches for you to explore. Local surf beaches include Broulee, North Head at Moruya and McKenzies Beach south of Batemans Bay. Patrolled beaches include Broulee, Malua Bay, Moruya, Tuross Head and Narooma.

National Parks & Wildlife

With 15 national parks, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Highlights are Murramang National Park with its beautifully preserved coastlines and eastern grey kangaroos, while Deua National Park is a haven for birdlife, wallabies, possums and the rare tiger quoll. For one of the greatest wildlife adventures in Australia, snorkel or scuba dive with seals off Montague Island, home to thousands of seals, penguins and many bird species, and the perfect location for whale and dolphin watching.

A cheese-making region since the 1870s and home to some of the finest wine cellars, cheese and wine are a highlight of the culinary experience in Eurobodalla. Batemans Bay itself is famous for its seafood and gourmet Clyde River oysters. If you love freshly-shucked oysters, look no further than The Farm Gate or Wray Street Oyster Shed on the banks of the Clyde River. You can also pick your own berries at Clyde River Berry Farm or savour local produce at growers’ markets. Two of the best are SAGE Farmers Market at Moruya and Tilba Growers Market at Tilba.

Get up close and personal with Australia’s rare and wonderful wildlife at Birdland Animal Park or discover exotic creatures at Mogo Zoo. For history buffs, visit the Narooma Lighthouse Museum or The Original Gold Rush Colony, a re-created 1850s gold rush town and theme park.

Visit historic villages like Tilba, where you can relax in cafes, wander through galleries and collect unique items from boutique stores.
